The deep sea was a little different from the other power spots in Hoenn. Robin had been down here only a single time, with all the unearned confidence of a woman who had survived only one prior expedition to the wilds. She remembered it fondly, however, as she had shown her best friend her new ability: mega snorlax.

Melancholy befell her as the two made their way into the sea. There was a tinge of nostalgia here but also concern. "This place causes hallucinations, doesn't it?" She couldn't quite remember...

To say anyone ever looked forward to an expedition into the ultra deep sea would be the mark of a sociopath truly... Yuina didn't wish this voyage upon anyone. If done correctly, it could be quick... But that was hardly ever the case with all of the darkness that loomed in every corner.[break][break]
She was with Robin, a familiar face, but one she wished didn't have to brunt such awful experiences.[break]
"Yeah... It does," Yuina returned, she wasn't going to lie to her.[break][break]
"But focus on your breathing, and focus on just one thing at a time, don't let your thoughts jumble. We'll try to keep the most of the toxins at bay," Yuina offered as she started to take stock of their surroundings with Centos at the ready.

"OK, focus on my breathing." She did her best to avoid getting entranced by the dark abyss. A lack of stimulation could cause hallucinations, she knew, so it was important to stay stimulated. "I kind of just wish there was a project to put hundreds of Lanturns in here." The added light would make the deep sea less terrifying. It would look much more like a night sky full of stars or perhaps lit paper lanterns.

They were in the mining area, but there were several threatening pokemon getting closer. Curious? Angry? She wasn't sure. "Feeling a bit of pressure," she joked as she did her best to gather samples from the deep sea wall.

To her credit, Yuina knew that Robin was trying to keep herself distracted, to keep a constant train of thought going, so as not to give in to what lay around them. That was good, a fair cope and one that Yuina could feed into.[break][break]
"That certainly would be an undertaking. I guess it should be a requirement to bring at least one Pokémon capable of giving off enough light. We can help though," Yuina returned, and Centos' energy whirred within his metal body, illuminating his blue light and elongating his horns. He was more or less a walking lantern.[break][break]
"We're doing great, no pressure. Nothing has approached yet, and Centos and I have your back if something does," she encouraged.

"Woah." Yuina's pokemon was bright. More importantly, it looked different from anything she had seen before. "What is that. I've never seen a pokemon look quite like yours." It reminded her of what she'd seen in area zero, but this pokemon really seemed special.

Robin flinched as some strange, mutated pokemon approached them. It looked a bit like Infernape, but it had the shadow-y hands she associated with Confagrigus, and its face was half-covered in unnatural shadow. "There's a bogey," she called out as she ducked away from one of its hands. Sinistea launched a shadow ball at it.

The iron sword kept a silent, but bright vigil as his digital eyes blinked blue, and the energy flowed through his metallic body. Yuina began to gather up the crystals that Robin had mined out, they were making good progress, and she looked up to Centos for a moment at Robin's query.[break][break]
"Well, I don't know that anyone is really sure what they are, truly. The colloquial name for them is 'paradoxes'. I've been theorizing that they might not really be Pokémon, like we wouldn't call ultra beasts Pokémon like any Mareep or Pidgey we might see," Yuina returned, but the anomalous species theorizing would have to wait.[break][break]
There were always monsters lurking in the darkness, and this expedition was no exception as something born of shadow and fire started towards them, seething and screeching in discordant cries. The SINISTEA'S Shadow Ball rang true as Centos' energy whirred to life, and he slashed his horns through the air for an Air Slash that whipped across the cavern.[break][break]
"And that's our queue, time to get going."

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.

She knew the term paradox, but Yuina's looked different from any she'd seen, still... but then she found herself chewing on that other idea: that paradoxes might not be pokemon at all. "That's crazy," she said with awe. Could it be true? If they weren't pokemon, what were they? Did that suggest they didn't come from Arceus, or that Arceus created something like pokemon but intentionally different?

Philosophy wasn't her strong suit. She got her head back in the game and nodded firmly. "Right, time to leave." She hurried to gather her things and Sinistea, ready to flee the foreboding area. "We've seen enough for one trip, after all." And Robin was leaving with a dozen questions about paradoxes.
